Birstall Running Club meet at the Co-operative Sports Ground,
Birstall Road, Birstall, every Monday and Friday evening.
On Monday nights we meet at 6.15pm, Friday at 6.45pm.
We have male and female changing rooms where you can change and take a shower, you can also leave your bags as the changing rooms are locked during the run.
We usually split into 3 or 4 groups according to the level you are at, the fast, medium and slow group. We have a group that is ideal for new runners who are able to run but afraid of feeling pressured into running for the first time with a group and getting left behind. It is very important that you are able to run for at least 30 - 45 minutes at 10 - 11 minute mileing, we do stop to re group and make sure we are all together. We always make sure that no one is left behind. Our routes are varied but mainly around Birstall in the winter and of course we are 5 minutes away from the Birstall Lakes which are very popular from April onwards. The distances vary also, Monday is a longer run of an hour or more while Friday is generally 45 minutes.
After the Monday run most people have a hot shower and congregate in the adjoining social club where drinks are very reasonable and we have a natter and a good laugh. Now and again we have a quiz night and a fish and chip supper.
On a Friday night we head off to the British Legion in Birstall.
We take part in the Leicester Road Running League races throughout the year and the Derby Runner Cross Country series in the Winter. We also enjoy the annual Round Leicester Relay.
